History of Crusades began in the 11th century when Pope Urban II announced a campaign to reclaim the holy land of Muslim power.
The first crusaders began in 1096 and ended in 1099 with the conquest of the city of Jerusalem by Christian troops.
The second crusaders began in 1147 and ended in 1149. Although Christian troops succeeded in capturing cities in the southern region of Anatolia, they failed to reclaim Jerusalem.
The third crusaders began in 1189 and ended in 1192. Christian troops succeeded in capturing the city of ACRE in Palestine, but failed to reclaim Jerusalem.
The fourth crusades began in 1202 and ended in 1204. Christian troops attacked Constantinople, the capital of the Byzantine Empire, and managed to seize it.
The fifth crusaders began in 1217 and ended in 1221. Christian troops failed to reclaim Jerusalem and only managed to seize a few cities in Egypt.
Sixth Crusades began in 1228 and ended in 1229. The Holy Roman Emperor, Frederick II, succeeded in reclaiming Jerusalem from the hands of Muslims through a peace agreement.
