Indonesia has three different time zones, namely Western Indonesia time, Central Indonesia Time, and Eastern Indonesia Time.
Before the official time zone in Indonesia, each region has its own local time.
The time zone WIB was first introduced in 1932 by the Dutch East Indies government.
Initially, there were only two time zones in Indonesia, namely WIB and WIT. Time of Indonesia was only established in 1988.
During the Japanese colonial period, Indonesia only had one time zone referred to as Japanese time.
Before the official time zone, Indonesians used a sun time system to determine time.
Time Zone Western Indonesia has a time difference of about 1 hour faster than the Central Indonesia time zone and 2 hours faster than the time zone of Eastern Indonesia.
Eastern Indonesia Time Zone has the same time as Australian Eastern Standard time.
Countries around Indonesia such as Australia, Singapore and Malaysia have different time zones.
The clock shift due to seasonal changes (daylight saving time) is not applied in Indonesia.
